Leveling spec for Death Knights

Below is the talent build I have used for leveling purposes for WoW 4.3 going forward- it is the leveling build that I have found to be the most efficient and speedy for leveling purposes. I believe this to be the best leveling build, and going with this build, you truly cannot go wrong. You will get excellent damage per second (have decent gear helps too, obviously), and a high degree of survivability, so you can make it on top in even the roughest situations.

When it comes to picking a Death Knight leveling spec, there are many different leveling specs to choose from, but as you might have guessed some are better than others. If you are looking for the absolute fastest Death Knight leveling possible, for me the answer is unholy spec. This is different for me as Before 4.0 or Cataclysm I would have gone with a blood spec.

Unholy Death Knight Leveling spec For 4.3 and Cataclysm

Only implementing this spec is obviously not going to be enough to be king of the arena, you still need a some pointers to make sure you don’t get your face smashed in while fighting in the Arena, so keep the following Death Knight PVP tips in on hand:

Good Rotations To Use:

PS –> IT –> BS –> BS –> SS –> RP Dump (RP Dump means use your runic power)
SS –> SS –> SS –> RP Dump

Tip #1: Don’t Open With Death Grip

Unless you run into a noob, this would be a mistake. If you use Death Grip right away, the opponent is just going to use their escape cc and get away from it right away. A lot of people like to open with this but it’s quite expected and easily counterable when it’s used right away.  Wait until they’ve already activated their escape cc, that’s the time for you to use it.

Tip #2: Unholy Presence

This gives you a movement bonus and a shorter global cool down time, this will help you spam diseases and other skills more rapidly.  You might want to swap out to a frost presence for it’s protection in some instances, but the majority of the time you will want to keep this active.

Tip #2: Manage Your Runic Power

Managing the use of your runic power is very important in Death Knight PVP, you don’t want to be in a situation where you don’t have the right skill available to use because you used up all your runes when you didn’t NEED to.  Wait until your runic bar is just about full before you use a skill that is going to sap some, this way you’ll have some left over for when the heat really gets turned up.

This applies to runes as well.  Use a couple runes then wait until the ones you’ve just used are almost done with their cool down before using more, this will allow you to have runes usable for important skills like strangulate when you really need it.
